Female Sexual Health Infections And Safer Sex

Yeast Infection: – Several different fungi may cause yeast infections but the most general one is Candida alb cans. Because of this, a yeast infection is often called Candidacies. It is normal to have small amounts of yeast in the vagina; a yeast infection occur when the yeast ‘overgrows,’ taking over the vagina. Yeast infections are not sexually transmitted. Whether a woman has sex with men or women does not affect her likelihood of having a yeast infection. Yeast infections may be associated with:

* Taking antibiotics
* Taking birth control pills
* Diabetes
* Pregnancy
* Stress
* Tampon use
* Douching
* Lowered immune system

The causes of yeast infection are usually too much sugar in the body, too much starch intake, not enough water. So if a person eats a lot of sugar, a lot of starch, and not enough water, their chances of feeding these organisms in the vaginal area goes up, so do the chances of yeast infection. And of course, with everything that you feed, it grows.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms include: -

* White vaginal discharge
* Vaginal itching
* Burning
* Redness
* Swelling around the genitals
* Painful intercourse

What are the HIV Risks and Infection: -

* Oral sex – the risk of HIV being passed on through oral sex is low, but it is increased if a woman has cuts or sores in her mouth, or if the partner receiving oral sex has sores on her genitals or is having her period. Oral sex is safer if you use a ‘dental dam’ (a square of latex or cling film) to stop any vaginal fluid or menstrual blood getting into your mouth.
* Rough sex – any sexual activity that can lead to bleeding or cuts/breaks in the lining of vagina or anus is risky, including ‘fisting’ or certain S&M (sadomasochism) activities.
* Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) gives a frothy, itchy vaginal discharge and is passed on by contact with the vagina only, for example by touching or sharing sex toys.
* Syphilis is very infectious and close skin contact during sex can pass it on. Syphilis causes painless ulcers (or chancres) to appear where the bacteria entered the body. A chancre on the vagina can be almost unnoticeable.13 Read more about syphilis.
* Sharing sex toys – sharing sex toys (for example vibrators) can be risky if they have vaginal fluids (juice), blood or faeces on them. Always clean them well and have one each. This is one area of sex where sharing is a bad idea!
* Hepatitis refers to viral infections that cause inflammation of the liver. Certain forms of hepatitis can easily be passed on in sex – for example by touching or sharing sex toys. There are often no symptoms, though it can cause jaundice (yellow skin) or nausea. Read more about hepatitis.

Sexually Diseases and Other Infections: -

* Sexually Transmitted Diseases
* General Information
* Chlamydia
* Trichomonas
* Gonorrhea
* Hepatitis B
* Herpes
* HIV/AIDS
* HIV Testing
* Pubic Lice
* Scabies
* Syphilis

General Guide to Virginia Health Insurance

Being a resident of Virginia and looking for information about health insurance? You might have flipped reams of pages and clicked a lot of online links while searching of Google or Yahoo! with various keywords. We offer a general guide related to health insurance in Virginia, which may equip you to buy a medical insurance policy that suits your needs to the best possible extent.

Most of the residents of Virginia avail insurance from their employers in the form of group health insurance. In this policy, a part of medical care expenses are paid by the employers. Usually, the premium that a consumer needs to pay will fall between 16-27% of the total value. It is surprising to know that the amount of premium for group health insurance does not depend upon your health or your family members’ health; rather, on the overall health of the group, which constitute the employees that are covered in that particular plan.

If you are self-employed you could qualify for a small group plan in Virginia; however, to be eligible for this plan, you must have 2 or more eligible employees. Each of these employees must work for at least 30 hours per week.

While residing in Virginia and looking for a health insurance plan, you should try to qualify for Medicaid program. It issues a Medicaid card which you can show your doctor at an appointment and if this doctor is in the network of Medicaid program, the State will pay the bill for the appointment minus any other health insurance you may have. Outpatient hospital care, laboratory services, nursing home care, home health care, transportation necessary to receive medical care (ambulance ride), and other services are included in this plan.

There are good options available for people to avail private health insurance from various companies in Virginia. Some of the insurance companies that offer wide variety of insurance plans to Virginians include Aetna, American National, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Assurant, CareFirst Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Celtic, Golden Rule, Great American, Humana One, IAC, Kaiser Permanente, Patriot Health, Solera Dental, and UniCare. Unlike the case of group health insurance, private health insurance in Virginia would calculate its premium based on your health. While buying health insurance in Virginia from private companies, you need to take care of certain aspects of any policy, which include:

  1. What exactly the medical care coverage include?
  2. What is the premium cost and how much are the deductibles?
  3. If you need to see a specialist doctor, do you need referrals?
  4. If you have a pre-existing medical condition, does the health insurance policy cover it?
  5. If you need pregnancy or child care, does the policy provide it?
  6. Regular check-ups, pharmacy, and emergency care are included or not?

Once you have ensured that these points are taken care of, you have equipped yourself with some basic knowledge of understanding a health insurance plan in Virginia. With little more efforts on comparing some health insurance quotes, you can make your final decision.

Natural Treatment For Stress And Anxiety Disorders

The main effect of stress is that it lowers the functioning of the body’s immune system. This makes the body vulnerable to several other illnesses and conditions. The most common symptom of stress is recurring headaches.

Symptoms of Stress: – Stress is the term used to describe the human body’s failure to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats. As a result, the body experiences a state of alarm, which leads to an increase in adrenaline production.

Common symptoms of stress include:

* Irritability
* Muscle tension
* Inability to concentrate
* Headaches
* Increased heart rate
* Exhaustion

There are several natural remedies and lifestyle changes you can make to reduce the effects of stress on your body and mind. Increase consumption of foods that contain anti-oxidants such as oranges, melons, berries, broccoli and carrots. Avoid eating spicy and greasy foods as these are difficult to digest and as such increase the pressure on the body.

Stress Management Self Help: -

* Meditation Stress Relief: – Stress is a natural part of everyday life. Simply defined, stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires the body to adjust or respond. Stress can manifest itself in physical forms such as headache, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, sleeping problems, nervous tension, and anxiety.

Many benefits result from regular meditation. Self confidence, energy levels and productivity all receive a boost from meditation. Health will improve or stabilize because stress levels go down which will reduce stress related conditions and illnesses. A person’s mood can improve when anxiety levels are reduced because stress is no longer a chronic condition.

* Vitamin Stress Relief: – The prescription of vitamins for stress is a controversial issue. Vitamins are micronutrients which are required in minute quantities for carrying out metabolic, enzymatic and certain hormonal activities in our body. Except vitamin K which is produced in smaller amounts in our body by the intestinal flora and vitamin D which is produced in the skin, all the other vitamins are to be provided from outside either through food or as supplements.

* Deep Breathing Stress Relief: – Breathing correctly can be as powerful as it is simple. The typical person only uses around twenty percent of their lung capacity, but with practice, they can learn how to tap into their lung’s full potential. Sending better oxygen content to all the cells of the body can bring dramatic changes in general health and mood.

Schedule your deep breathing exercise just as you would schedule important business appointments. Set aside a minimum of two 10 minute segments of time everyday although you can begin with two five minutes segments if you prefer. Honoring yourself enough to schedule time with yourself is the first step in mastering stress. Tend your relationship with yourself and your relationship with Life and with others will be enriched and deepened accordingly.

Noshi-Do Lesson Ten: Fish and the Health of Your Brain

There is an amazing new study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry that may well turn psychiatry on its head for it admits, perhaps for the first time, that nutrition plays a key role in mental health

The randomized, placebo controlled study reveals something that nutritionists have known for quite some time: that fish oil supplements can alleviate mental illness. It involved 81 people who were considered to be at high risk for psychosis. Fish oil supplements were administered to half the study subjects for 84 days while the other half received a placebo.

The results were very impressive: 11 people in the placebo group developed a psychotic disorder, while only 2 in the fish oil group did. Not only that, the research observed a protective effect from fish oils for an entire year even though the subjects only took them fish oils for 12 weeks! One can imagine how much more positive the results might have been had those subjects not stopped the fish oil after twelve weeks but carried on taking it!

Another interesting observation here is that the subjects not only benefitted from the fish oil but they were ABLE to stop taking it without any harmful effect. This is a marked contrast to psychiatric drugs where to suddenly stop taking the drug is to court disaster and the only safe way to stop is a medically supervised wean-down.

The study was relatively small, although some of us are surprised that psychiatry, which had seemed so irrevocably invested in its drug paradigm even entertained it at all. Perhaps the wind of change has reached even into psychiatry’s shuttered corridors. Be that as it may, the study does help to verify what many of us have been saying for years: fish oils, of which omega-3 fatty acids are thought to be the key nutritional factor, are important for “brain health,” the smooth working of the nervous system and a boon to mental function.

Indeed, there is a lot known about the broad range of health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. They help protect you against cardiovascular disease for one. For another, they can play a role in preventing diabetes and cancer.

In response to this latest study, Alison Cobb, of the mental health charity Mind, told the BBC: “If young people can be treated successfully with fish oils, this is hugely preferable to treating them with antipsychotics, which come with a range of problems from weight gain to sexual dysfunction, whereas omega-3s are actually beneficial to their general state of health.”

We could not agree more. Psychiatric drugs given to kids with so-called ADHD or kids and adults with “depression” and so forth can bring about, in varying degrees of severity, a whole host of mental and physical problems, including violent outbursts, depression (I kid you not) diabetes, weight gain and blood sugar disorders and many others.

Not only that, psychiatric drugs are expensive both in terms of what they cost to buy and the costs of treating and repairing the physical and mental harm they do.

Fish oils on the other hand are FOOD, not toxins. As such they have none of these horrific side effects. Indeed, they have other very positive effects throughout the body – the joints for instance.

Psychiatrists, medical doctors and indeed anyone who wants to look after the mental and physical health of his fellow human beings would do well to dispense with the drugging and start recommending fish oils.

One word of advice, make sure you buy good qualify fish oil free from heavy metals, pesticides and other toxins, are sustainably harvested and that you can trust the manufacturer to provide consistent good quality.

Ask your nutritionist or your local reputable Health Food Store if you are uncertain.

As I have said before: a Golden Age is coming and there are no drugs in it. It does however contain fish.
